Planning the packing list for your Yellowstone vacation is deeply personal and depends on the types of adventures you wish to embark on. Avid hikers should be sure to pack their boots and all the backcountry gear their hearts desire. Anglers will want to grab a park fishing permit and pack their rods, reels and tackle (or flies). Campers, don’t leave your tent at home, and remember to throw in s’mores fixings.
Of course, if you plan to stick to the boardwalks and viewpoints along the road, you might not need quite so much gear. There are a few items that every Yellowstone traveler should bring along.
Bear spray
Park pass
Maps
Adventure gear
Sun protection
Lots of layers
Comfortable shoes
Car emergency kit
